Susan + David = Sophisticated Fun

I fell completely in love with the photographs Ken created of Susan and David as soon as I saw them.  Susan and David are a tremendously sweet and fun couple, and Ken perfectly captured their unique relationship in the images they chose as 30-inch portraits on display at their reception.  Gorgeous!

Couture Colour: A Little French Flair with Black, White, and Apple Green

The colors of the new season are absolutely blowing me away - lush, bold, rich patterns seem to be popping up everywhere.  This pallette was inspired by Aria Style and created with the help of Totally Tabletops.  Susan has created a fabulous new line of wedding and reception linens, and these are part of one of the new wedding collections.  Simply fabulous!

Cindy + Richard = Romance

Ken and Michelle had so much fun with Cindy and Richard, especially when they took a very romantic stroll on the beach.  The clouds were gorgeous, and Michelle came up with the idea of writing 'Just Married' in the sand with the lighthouse behind them.  I loved it!Azzura_Photography_6_5_8_01.jpgAzzura_Photography_6_5_8_02.jpg

Announcing the Bebé Collection

Many of our couples have been recently blessed with new additions to their family, and we are excited to announce that we are creating some absolutely gorgeous image products for our new parents.  Amber, Ken, and I have been working hard on creating unique options, so stay posted in the months to come as we reveal the new Collections!Azzura_Photography_6_3_8_01.jpg

Well worth the hike!

Amy and Mark were all for the hike down to Snoqualmie Falls - one of my personal favorite places.  (Ken and I got married there, so it has special meaning to us!)  We had a great time traipsing around, and I am looking forward to their wedding tAzzura_Photography_6_2_8_01.jpghis weekend!Azzura_Photography_6_2_8_02.jpg

Kristi + Robert = Adventure

Washington is (in my humble opinion) one of the best, least-known places for a Destination Weddings.  Kristi and Robert discovered this secret, and decided sight-unseen to get married at the Inn at Langley on Whidbey Island.  They had never met the chef, met me, or even seen the resort, so this was a huge leap of faith on their part!  Their adventuresome spirit was rewarded with an absolutely stunning spring day, and the outdoor wedding was beautiful!  Thank you for including me in your adventure!  :)

Floral Fabulous

I stumbled across these photographs that I took at the Seattle Wedding Show ... more to come, but I loved these florals, so I thought I'd share!  Wendy from Ravenna Bloom created these beautiful arrangements, and I can't wait to see more of her work this year.azzura_5_20_08_01.jpgazzura_5_20_08_03.jpgazzura_5_20_08_02.jpg

Changes in the Works

Every year I take a three-day trip to Alderbrook, and I use it to reflect on the year past and the upcoming direction for our Studio.  This year has certainly seen more change than I could have imagined - the completion (well, mostly) of the new Studio, moving into the house, Michelle turning 16, and a tremendous number of absolutely fabulous weddings.

There are a few things, however, that we have honestly struggled with, and that we will be making some very dramatic changes to improve for next year.  The first is our album design timing, which has been a definite challenge.  We expected about half of our clients to invest in our custom-designed albums, and we were surprised when almost 95% of our clients chose to have albums created.  Rather than compromise the quality of our albums, we chose to extend the design times in order to give each and every album the attention it deserves.  In the coming year, our goal is to continue to maintain the meticulous quality of our albums, but improve our design turn-around times.  We have added an extremely talented graphic designer, Dan Goodman, to our team to lend his skill to creating fresh designs.   He has been with us for almost five months now, and I couldn't be happier with the incredible albums he and Amber have been jointly creating.

The second major improvement will be with our communication, both to our clients and our friends in the wedding industry.  With the blog, our newsletter, and our new sales associate, Amanda, we will be actively staying in touch on a much more regular basis.  I believe that relationships are built, not found, and we are going to invest the time and effort to create friendships that will extend far beyond the Wedding Day.

I hope that these changes will help us to not only meet, but exceed the expectations of our clients, and I thank you all for your patience as we have worked our way through the growing pains of the last year.  We are so looking forward to the year to come, and all the amazing people we will get to work with!   :)

The Tulip Festival - Part 1

Since I moved to Seattle, I have always wanted to visit the tulip festival.  Every year it seems something came up that stood in our way, but this year Ken and I finally made it.  Tulips are my favorite flower (which you may have figured out by our wedding pictures!)

Ironically, my favorite photograph from the trip didn't have a single tulip in it.   I guess there is no anticipating inspiration!

'Dinner: Impossible' features a Woodmark Wedding!

Robert's recent mission took him to the Woodmark Hotel, where he created an unforgettable meal for a cross-cultural wedding! His challenge was to create a gourmet menu that fuses Asian and Irish cuisine, consisting of hors d'oeuvres and a 4-course plated dinner for 150 wedding guests in 9 hours. This wedding was incredibly emotional and special for the family, as the bride's dad has been diagnosed with lung cancer and the couple pushed up their wedding date six months (from August to January) to ensure that he would be at their wedding.

Aria Style contributed the linens and decor, and Athena Flora designed some amazing floral creations - and as you can see, the result was stunning!

It may take a minute or two to load, but I wanted to share all of my favorites. Just use the scroll bar on the top to page through the images, and the any one you click on will show up full-sized below.

Kimberly + Torrey = Laughter

Although the year is still young, Kimberly and Torrey's Wedding on April 12th sets a high bar for fun weddings!  Kimberly was one of the most laid-back, sweet brides I have ever met, and we had a blast photographing first at Newcastle, then at Tibbet's Creek for the Ceremony and Reception.  More to come!Azzura_Photography_4_28_8_5.jpg

Kudos to Ally at Plateau Florist - the florals were gorgeous!  Kimberly came up with the concept of integrating Peacock feathers, and the effect was elegant, whimsical, and totally unique!Azzura_Photography_4_28_8_6.jpgAzzura_Photography_4_28_8_4.jpgAzzura_Photography_4_28_8_7.jpgAzzura_Photography_4_28_8_8.jpg

Sharon & Jantzen at the Olympic Sculpture Park

Sharon and Jantzen had the honor of being my first engagement shoot at the OSP, which is absolutely beautiful.  We photographed a wedding there last year, and I hope that we will have more this year. The sculptures are interesting and the water view is great.  (Of course, it helps to have such a fun couple!)  Azzura_Photography_3_28_8_4.jpgAzzura_Photography_3_28_8_1.jpgAzzura_Photography_3_28_8_2.jpg

Kacee + Andy = Fun!

What a great way to kick off the year!  Kacee and Andy got married on February 1st, in the midst of our cold-snap.  Despite the chill, they had a blast running around Pike's Place, and the whole wedding party joined in.  They were so much fun, I couldn't have asked for a better group!Azzura_Photography_3_8_8_03.jpgAzzura_Photography_3_8_8_06.jpgAzzura_Photography_3_8_8_02.jpg

Michelle turns Sweet 16!

Every girl dreams of celebrating her 16th birthday, and this year our daughter Michelle got her chance.  With the help of Aria Style, DJ Hayden Hall, and Crème de la Crème, the party on Friday Feb 15th was everything Michelle had dreamed - thank you, thank you, thank you!
